Abstract. The problem of waterproofing underground structures, built in the constrained conditions of dense urban development, is considered. For reliable waterproofing of structures, built close to the pit fence, an innovative sprayed waterproofing system with double-sided adhesion, designed to increase the reliability and maintainability of waterproofing during the construction of subways, has been developed and tested. The work used the method of spraying a bitumen polymer emulsion with the formation of three-layer composite structures of the "sandwich" type. The developed system has proven its technological feasibility, reliability, and economic viability at the Moscow and St. Petersburg Metro facilities. It eliminates the need for time-consuming and expensive excavation and backfilling operations, ensuring long-lasting waterproofing (at least 100 years) and facilitating its maintenance. This technology holds promise not only for metro construction but also for the construction of underground parking lots, reservoirs, foundations, and other structures in densely populated areas.
