Abstract. Monolithic construction is associated with the risk of cracking in massive structures during the early stages of concrete hardening, caused by exothermic heating and heat and mass transfer with the environment. This paper presents a comparative analysis of S.V. Aleksandrovsky's numerical-analytical approach and finite-element modeling of heat and mass transfer processes in massive monolithic slabs. A computer model has been developed in MATLAB, allowing for an arbitrary number of series terms. It has been established that a single series term provides acceptable accuracy for the temperature field, whereas up to 50 series terms are required for the humidity field due to the high gradient in the near-surface zones. The disadvantages of the analytical approach are identified: it is cumbersome, requires solving transcendental equations, and fails to account for variable boundary conditions. A finite-element model free of these limitations is proposed as an alternative. Using a foundation slab as an example, the effect of the overlap time of concreting layers on the temperature and humidity conditions of the structure is studied. It has been shown that technological factors significantly influence temperature and humidity distribution, especially in surface layers, which must be taken into account when predicting the crack resistance of structures. The developed model can serve as a basis for calculating the stress-strain state of concrete, taking into account actual construction conditions.
