Abstract. The practical application of the concept of determining the residual resource of load-bearing wooden structures is considered on the example of the surveyed load-bearing wooden structures of the bell tower of St. Nicholas Cathedral of St. Petersburg. Brief conclusions on the results of the assessment of the technical condition of structures are presented, and their design scheme is shown. Constructive calculations related to the limit state check are given. The service life of structures is determined according to the methods set out in the code of rules for wooden structures, separately according to the criterion of degradation of strength properties (activation energy) and the criterion of physical wear, as well as according to the concept of determining service life, taking into account the combined influence of both criteria. An analysis of the results shows that using the concept instead of the methods presented in the standards provides adequate real-world service life for structures in operation.
