Abstract. Stone buildings subject to uneven deformations of frozen soils are considered. The research devoted to the joint operation of buildings and the base deformable during defrosting is analyzed. It is noted that when generating the calculation scheme "stone building - foundation" it is necessary to take into account changes in the spatial rigidity of the building as a result of crack formation. Examples of the redistribution of forces in a stone building during the development of cracks and the associated necessary verification calculations of its individual structural elements are given The existing methods of numerical modeling of cracks in stone structures are analyzed, their advantages and disadvantages from the point of view of practical application in the calculation schemes "building - foundation" are noted. Technical difficulties in implementing such calculation schemes based on existing software are noted, and simplified methods of numerical modeling of cracks are proposed. The need for experimental studies in order to obtain parametric values of the corresponding criteria of crack formation is shown
