Abstract. The article considers the EVM model and evaluates its efficiency. The authors use the term "capital investment development trajectory" as a synonym for the EVM model. To describe the trajectory (procedure) for financing a capital construction project, it is proposed to use a well-known model of progressive motion of a material point. To construct the EVM model trajectory, special cases of progressive motion are considered, including uniform, uniformly accelerated and uniformly decelerated motion. .By the efficiency of a capital investment project, the authors mean the amount of monetary obligations to the investor that ensures a given level of profitability. The efficiency of the capital investment development trajectory in the EVM model is determined by the amount of obligations accumulated by the time the facility is put into operation (completion of construction). An efficiency criterion is proposed for assessing the capital investment development trajectory in the EVM model, which has significant advantages over traditional approaches to assessing the efficiency of direct investments.
