Abstract. This article is a continuation of the author's previous article "Stages of stress-strain state of reinforced concrete beams with normal cracks in flat bending", published in the September issue of the journal "Industrial and Civil Engineering" for this year. A new mechanics of reinforced concrete beams with normal cracks under plane bending is proposed, eliminating the need to use the hypothesis of plane sections or the kinematic hypothesis of Timoshenko, based on the apparatus of modern structural mechanics and the division of rod elements into blocks, in places where normal cracks are formed. On the basis of the proposed mechanics of reinforced concrete beams with normal cracks under plane bending, the advantages of known calculation methods based on permissible stresses and ultimate forces, the diagram method and the limit equilibrium method are combined with the development of a universal method based on quasi-nonlinear stepwise calculation for solving problems of ultimate and serviceability limit states in mass design of buildings and structures..
Keywords: mechanics of reinforced concrete beams with cracks, height of compressed zone of concrete, new kinematic factor, stresses in compressed concrete, stresses in tensile reinforcement, "s-e" diagram for the extreme fiber of compressed concrete in beams
