Abstract. Currently, domestic nuclear power plants are equipped with a double reinforced concrete protective shell, which consists of internal and external parts, respectively, protecting the environment from accidents inside and the main equipment from external influences. The design and technology of the construction of the inner protective shell is determined by the specifics of the tasks performed, and its lack of alternatives has been confirmed at many nuclear power plants, including the very first of them. The outer protective shell is designed using two technologies - traditional and block. An assessment of the effectiveness of these technologies is presented in order to choose the best of them. The organizational, technological and working documentation for several nuclear power plants is analyzed. The economic component of the construction process was determined by an estimated calculation based on data on analog projects and a survey of engineering and technical workers involved in the construction of the outer protective shell. Data on the labor intensity and duration of works with various technologies were obtained, the amount of financial costs for each of the options has been determined. The solution based on the maximum industrialization of the technological process has shown its inefficiency for outer shell. The labor intensity, time and financial costs in this option are much inferior to similar indicators when using traditional piece reinforcement technology.
