Abstract. Frequencies of free vibrations of the surface gas pipelines made of polyethylene of PE grade are investigated in this paper. The solution for determining the frequencies of free vibrations is based on a geometrically nonlinear version of the semi-momentless theory of cylindrical shells of medium bending. Using the geometrically nonlinear equilibrium equations of Galimov-Mushtari, the equation of motion of the middle surface of the shell is obtained in the efforts, further, with due regard for relations between forces and deformations, deformations and displacements, in displacements. Solving the equation of motion in displacements, an equation is obtained for determining the frequencies of free vibrations of the surface gas pipeline. The presented solution makes it possible to determine the natural frequencies of the gas pipeline with due regard for the influence of internal working pressure, the parameter of the longitudinal compressive force, the influence of the elastic soil base, and geometric characteristics. With the help of the expression obtained it is possible to calculate own frequencies of the gas pipeline made of various materials. The effect of elastic foundation on the outer wall of the pipe, the influence of internal working pressure, the parameter of the longitudinal compressive force, and geometric characteristics were studied. Forms of vibrations which cause the loss of stability were determined.
Key words: gas pipeline, coefficient of soil bed, longitudinal compressive force, frequencies of free vibrations, resonance.
