Abstract. The authors raise the key problem for modern architectonics of taking into account the needs of society by urban designers, on the one hand, and the preservation of the biosphere, on the other, in order to harmonize their coexistence. Results of the point measurement of public opinion on the organization of the urban environment are presented. On the basis of the results of the sociological survey and analysis of secondary data, relaying on the comparative-historical method, the authors of the article examine social and ecological needs of inhabitants of urbanized territories and draw a conclusion about the growth of demand for strategic design in the organization of a modern urban environment. In this case, the experience of domestic and European architects and sociologists is taken into account. The novelty of the stated approach is that the functions of design and architecture are considered as integral parts of a joint system of measures to organize a biosphere-compatible space in large megacities. Perspectivity of the principles of architecture and landscape design of the biotech in creating the human-friendly urban environment is emphasized. That is the environment the authors define as biosphere-compatible. The idea of "supercomfort", acting as a goal of industrial and landscape design of the industrial era, is criticized. Recommendations on the organization of comfortable architecture-planning environment in cities are made; present problems of mono-cities, both economic and social, are also addressed.
Key words: biosphere compatibility, environmental safety, architecture-planning environment, postindustrial city, strategic design, landscaping. - REFERENCES
